Karen Dimase just turned sixty. This year is the most memorable birthday yet because the team in the Mental Health Program at RISE planned a big celebration. This party marks the first birthday bash that Karen has ever had in her life.

Ms. Dimase lives in a Mental Health Program house in Aquebogue. This year, the team wanted to do something extraordinary for her. So, Cherita Massenburg, Maxine Love and other staff planned a casino-themed party and invited all of her friends and other members of the RISE team. They hosted the party in the day program area for The Main Street Connection, located at the RISE offices on East Main Street in Riverhead. DJ Mayo spun dance favorites and Top 40 hits, while delicious hero sandwiches, snacks and casino games filled tables and lined the perimeter.

“I love casinos,” said Karen, “I like to visit Foxwoods and Atlantic City. It’s always a fun atmosphere in a casino. The team knew what would make me happy.” When asked if she was surprised about the party, a big smile crossed Karen’s face, “I am totally surprised and so happy! This is my first birthday party ever.”
