RISE Life Services has an amazing team of people, who make a powerful and positive difference every day in people’s lives.  We’d like you to meet our staff members and learn more about them. This week, we introduce you to Danille Cornwell, residential counselor.

  1. What is your role at RISE?
    A. Residential counselor
  2. When did you start with our organization?
    A. Right before my birthday, July 18th
  3. What is your favorite part of working here?
    A. Learning about psychiatric disorders and medications as well as treatment plans and psycho-social documents
  4. What do you find challenges you the most?
    A. Finding ways to motivate individuals to work towards their personal goals
  5. Any specific goals for this year, professionally or personally?
    A. My goals for this year and the beginning of the upcoming year is to finish my associates degree and do well with my internship. My other goal is to prepare for my first power lifting meet, and get a 400 pound dead lift, I’m currently at 315 pounds.
  6. Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
    A. I enjoy power lifting, I’m also a bit nerdy about psychology and social work, and I enjoy watching stand-up comedy on YouTube.
  7. What would we find you typically doing on a day off?
    A. Attending classes and going to my internship
  8. Favorite food(s)?
    A. I like everything except mushrooms and Swiss cheese.
  9. Favorite color?
    A. Everyone likes black, but I also like purple.
  10. What advice do you have for someone starting their career in this area?
    A. This field can be extremely mentally draining, it’s important to practice self-care and self-awareness. Practicing these two things will not only help you, but will help the population you work with as well.
