People Helping People: Andrew’s Family Farm

The RISE Main Street Market Food Pantry, that currently provides the Downtown Riverhead community in need with food supplies, has recently partnered with Andrew’s Family Farm. Andrew’s Farm in Wading River has always shown support for RISE by donating to events and recently this spring, they donated flats of flowers for our residents to plant. It helped our resident’s morale remain high by giving them a rewarding activity with a beautiful result. Now, RISE’s food pantry will be utilizing a recent grant to purchase wholesale fresh produce from the local farm as more and more vegetables come into season here on the East End of Long Island.

Recently, RISE was notified that they had been awarded a grant from All For The East End (AFTEE) to help support the needs of its food pantry. This funding, in-part, will be used to purchase fresh local produce at wholesale quantity from Andrew’s Family Farm for those who visit our pantry. RISE is providing a service to a community that is food-insecure and now, is also able to support a local farm. RISE is able to do this through the generosity of the farm and because of the grant provided by AFTEE through the Long Island Community Foundation.

RISE Life Services would also like to note that our food pantry has received recent grant support from Long Island Cares and a personal donation from Ms. Paula Morici. We’d like to share a special thanks to all who help our food pantry continue to operate and grow.
