Donald Mulvey’s Drive to Grow and Give

Donald Mulvey has been a dedicated employee of Rise Life Services since November 2022, serving as a Recreation Therapist/Coordinator at the Enrichment Experience Suicide Prevention program. He currently has a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation from St. Joseph’s and a CTRS certification from the National Counsel for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).

Throughout his professional journey, Donald has advocated for the recognition of recreation therapy services. Emphasizing the well-being of individuals, Donald prioritizes mental health alongside physical health and aims to address the comprehensive needs of clients, encompassing physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and environmental aspects.

Donald has cultivated a distinct “true person-centered approach” and speaks about its profound impact on fostering positive relationships. His emphasis on understanding the social, cognitive, physical, and recreational requirements of each person sets his approach apart.

By infusing a personalized touch into every intervention, he forges therapeutic alliances grounded in the individual’s background, preferences, and unique situations. This methodology has gotten admiration from various academic institutions, prompting them to adopt similar practices in their professional endeavors.

Donald intends to specialize in Behavioral Health, encompassing mental health, substance abuse, and various impairments that manifest across all stages of human development. He has exhibited a profound connections with the individuals he serves and eagerly anticipates sharing the acquired knowledge to the staff at Rise.

In his Shining Star interview, he emphasized that his most significant achievements centered on those he serves. Granting him the third-place prize of $1,000 will support his educational pursuits and amplify the outstanding impact of his contributions.
