Suicide Prevention and Enrichment Experience

The Mission of Rise Above Suicide, RISE Life Services’ Enrichment Experience, is to actively engage Suffolk Counties identified vulnerable at-risk youth and young adults, connect with them, and save lives by providing the highest quality of mental health services, recreational activities, family support services, educational and vocational support, and wellness strategies to enhance their lives, and instill hope for the future.

While participating in the program you can expect to meet and work with a team of culturally diverse professionals each having a diverse background and a wide array of experience.  Our team includes social workers, family specialists, peer specialists, outreach specialists and recreational therapists. 

Our team will provide participants and families support to recognize needs, identify and set goals, and create a mutual plan that will provide the best methods for success in meeting those needs and achieving your goals.

RISE Life Program staff are devoted to helping you achieve your goals by providing services, which may include, but are not limited to: dance, music, art classes, daily living skills, wellness workshops, and linkage to community resources and activities.

Our Enrichment Experience Suicide Prevention Program (EESPP) specifically serves youth and young adults up to age 24 who are at risk for suicide and who are either Hispanic/Latino, Black/ African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native or LGBTQI+ and living in Suffolk County, NY.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

A youth is considered at-risk if there are circumstances in their lives which may impact their ability to successfully transition into adulthood.  A variety of factors can contribute to a youth falling in the at-risk category. These issues can create feelings of isolation and estrangement from peers and cause children to act out. Lack of a stable financial situation or unstable family dynamics such as broken homes or absent parental figures can also create instability and cause development issues for youth.

There is no charge for the program or clinical services for participants enrolled in the program that do not have insurance, this includes co-payments.

Our Outreach Specialist will follow up with you after you call, email us or complete the Risk Assessment through the QR code.  During the conversation with you our team will review our program, eligibility, and provide recommendations for referrals based on your needs. Upon admission to the program, you will meet with our team to complete further assessments to identify services.  In addition, a referral to the Elevations Clinic Treatment Program will be submitted on your behalf or like clinic based upon your decision for an alternative provider.

Clinical services such as therapy and medication treatment is provided through our Elevations Clinic Treatment Program.  Having this unique combination of services “all under one roof” makes participation more accessible and convenient.  While enhancing continuity of services and treatment.

The Elevations Clinic Treatment Program is on call 24/7. Participants who need urgent assistance may speak with the on-call clinician and decide what further services may be needed. In the event of an emergency whereas the situation presents a danger to yourself or others, call 911.

Participants are offered opportunities to partake in community activities as a part of the program services.  Assessed needs for these approved services are paid for by the program at no cost to the particpant.  In addition, the program will also assist in referral and linkage to other providers and resources as needed and agreed to by the participant.

Participants can speak with our staff for information and their clinician for a more therapeutic discussion.  In addition, participants can speak with a person(s) within their circle of support if they are worried about a family member or friend.

EESPP provides the highest quality of mental health services, recreational activities, family support services, educational and vocational support, and wellness strategies to enhance each participant’s life, and instill hope for the future.
