Rise Life Services Celebrates Suicide Prevention Program Grand Opening

Rise Life Services new suicide prevention center has officially opened in Riverhead, Long Island.
The center is aimed at helping youth who are struggling with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. They had their grand opening on March 30th and was a huge success. Suffolk County police commissioner, Rodney Harrison visited the center and spoke to the importance of this new initiative. 

This new program’s opening comes at a time when youth suicide rates have been on the rise in the United States. By providing a safe and supportive environment for young people to talk about their struggles and get help. The center offers a variety of services including crisis counseling, a 24/7 hotline, support groups, and referrals to mental health professionals. It also has a specialized program for LGBTQ+ youth, who are at a higher risk of suicide.

Rise Life Services was founded in 1971 and has been providing mental health services to the Long Island community for over 50 years. It is staffed by trained volunteers who are available to provide support and assistance to those in need. The hope is the Suicide Prevention Program will make a positive impact on the community and help to reduce the number of youth suicides in the area.

The center is a collaboration between various community groups and organizations, including the Riverhead Youth Coalition, The Retreat, and the Suffolk County Department of Health. It is staffed by trained professionals who specialize in working with young people and is open to anyone between the ages of 10 and 24.

This program developed by Rise Life Services is the first of its kind in the region and is aimed at providing support and resources to young people who may be struggling with mental health issues or contemplating suicide. The entire campaign is called “Rise above suicide” and offers counseling services, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives to help prevent youth suicide.
