Buzzing with Purpose

Rise Life Services has embraced beekeeping, contributing to Long Island’s efforts to restore bee colonies and improve pollination. Novice beekeepers, or backyard beekeepers, are crucial in reversing the decline of wild bees, ensuring the growth of vital crops like apples, pumpkins, strawberries, and tomatoes.

While beekeeping is mostly allowed in Suffolk County, its popularity is growing in Nassau County. Despite some restrictions in areas like Glen Cove and Oyster Bay, the Town of Hempstead permits beekeeping through special exceptions, setting an example for other communities.

By maintaining bee hives, Rise Life Services supports environmental sustainability and educates the community on the importance of bees. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also fosters a healthier future for Long Island.
