Celebrating National Safety Day at Rise Life Services’ Day Program

At Rise Life Services’ day habilitation program, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a celebration. In honor of National Safety Day, participants and staff came together for a day of engaging activities and important lessons.

One highlight of the event was the “Safety or Trash” game, a thought-provoking exercise where individuals were presented with various scenarios and had to collectively decide if they were safe or not. If deemed unsafe, the scenarios were promptly tossed into a proverbial “trash can,” reinforcing the importance of identifying potential risks and hazards.

But the learning didn’t stop there. Participants also had the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about street safety, with staff members demonstrating proper protocol for crossing the street. Through hands-on experience and guidance from staff driving company vans, participants learned valuable skills to keep them safe when navigating their surroundings.

In a powerful demonstration, a staged car crash served as a sobering reminder of the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency situation. Participants were taught how to make a 911 call, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to take action when faced with unforeseen challenges.

As the day came to a close, the spirit of camaraderie and commitment to safety lingered in the air. Rise Life Services’ day habilitation program stands as a shining example of how education, engagement, and teamwork can empower individuals to prioritize safety in all aspects of their lives.
