Today was a wonderful and exciting day at Rise Life Services. We met with the three finalists for the Shining Star Award. As you know, last summer we started the Rising Star Award, a peer-nominated recognition. We celebrated 34 Rising Stars at this year’s holiday party. Following that event, we introduced the Shining Star Award to support professional development. The Rising Star/Shining Star committee spent three days conducting interviews to select three finalists. Today, the Executive Team at Rise met with these finalists and determined the awards would be distributed as follows:
Justin Mannara (Med Tech, Site 23 Ridge) will be awarded $5,000
Rose Slahetka (Residential Counselor, Site 8 Hampton Bays) will be awarded $2,500
Donald Mulvey (Recreation Therapist, Enrichment Program) will be awarded $1,000

Congratulations to all the Rising Stars in this year’s program and to all the Shining Stars who submitted essays this year. We look forward to continuing this program next year. Applications for the Rising Star Initiative will go out in September.
